“Might and wrong combined, like iron magnetized, are endowed with irresistible attraction.” ― Nathaniel Hawthorne
New London has long been a political enigma. After City Charter changes were voted in meaning New London would govern with a strong mayor away went the last bastion of stability and the Whaling City was soon thereafter thrown into a state of continuous turmoil.
The citizens of this wonderful coastal community were eager for some accountability, some responsibility and much needed transparency. Citizens sought a “The buck stops here” leader, one who could keep their eye on the ball and finally turn that corner that the Whaling City had been stuck at for decades. It seemed as with every other municipal election for the past 40 years that the time for the Whaling City to prosper had finally arrived.
November 2011 was no exception, a new form of government added greatly to the expectations of each and every Whaler. The excitement was in the air. Now 20 long months later all indications are that buyers remorse has set in deeply. Whalers are frustrated, angry and sad as they see their beautiful city being destroyed at the hands of a narcissistic tyrannical child lacking direction or conscience.
As the 2013 election season begins Whalers are saddened that they cannot oust the narcissistic tyrannical child and at the same time those courageous Whalers are filled with hope that they can elect a city council that can hold the fort and keep the Whaling City from complete destruction until the ouster of the narcissistic tyrannical child in November 2015.
